Part 2: Your Fertility Cycle is just like that game.

Your menstrual cycle and fertility are governed by hormones – by a complex chemical dance where each hormone involved must be present in the correct amount, at the right place and must perform on cue.

The diagram below shows the different hormones and how they change through the 29 days.

 Any subtle change in hormone levels can mean the difference between success and failure.

It can mean the difference of an egg not being released at the right time, or the womb lining not being prepared or bleeding being delayed.

The standard medical reponse to an irregular menstrual cycle is to bombard the womans body with external hormones in the bid to make the body respond on cue.

But this is NOT necessary – There are simple, non invasive tools that you can use to gently stimulate your body to re-align to its own natural rhythm.

All you need is the right information tools and the motivation to apply them.

The Moon and its Effects on Female Fertility.
Intuitively, women have always understood that the moon, their menstrual cycles and fertility are intimately connected.

In folk lore and ancient traditions the connections between the three are taken as fact.

Consider the following:

• A healthily fertile woman’s menstrual cycle runs its course in about twenty-nine days, one lunar cycle.
• A standard healthy pregnancy runs for 42 weeks or 10 lunar months.
• The relationship between the moon’s cycles and menstruation is so fundamental. that the two phenomena are related linguistically. Our words, ‘menstruation,’ ‘moon,’ and ‘month,’ all come from the Greek word for ‘measure of time.’

Science Confirms the Moon / Menses Link
Recent scientific research has shown that whilst sunlight stimulates your body clock to produce its sleep / wake rhythm it is the moon which controls the function of the menstrual / fertility cycle.

Female ovulation and the menstrual cycle are controlled by the hormone Melatonin, which is produced by the pineal gland during periods of darkness.

In 2001 scientists at Jefferson Medical College worked out how the human eye uses light to regulate melatonin production.

They found a unique photoreceptor in the eye responsible for reacting to light. This receptor sends a signal to the pineal gland which regulates the levels of melatonin depending upon the level of moonlight detected by the eye.

Part1: Regularity is the KEY to Healthy Fertility…

Most women watch their menstrual cycles and have been taught that their mid-cycle or biological ovulation is the best time for them to have sex in order to fall pregnant.

This is all very well if the woman has a regular cycle and can pin point her mid cycle fertile time.

But what if you don’t have a regular cycle?

Women who experience irregular cycles – too long or too short put their chances of conception in jeopardy.

Numerous studies have shown that women who have a cycle length of 29.5 days are more fertile than any other group.

As the cycle length varies either side of 29.5 days fertility starts to wane and it becomes more and more difficult for a women to pinpoint her mid cycle ovulation phase.

Researchers have also shown that women experiencing longer or shorter cycles experience more discomfort, heavier bleeding, cramping and more intense symptoms relating to PMT etc. They have more incidence of difficulty conceiving and in many cases ovulation ceases to occur altogether.

Even if they do fall pregnant the risk of miscarriage rises due to the fact that their body may not have the resources to complete the pregnancy.

This is why it is Vitally Important to make sure you have a regular cycle before you try to conceive.

Kangaroo Care: The importance of a Mother’s Touch

Skin-to-skin contact proves to have dramatic positive effects on preemies and full term babies. Today, doctors across the United States, South America, South Africa, and other countries recommend Kangaroo Care — sometimes referred to as Kangaroo Mother Care — to new moms of both premature and full-term infants. Doctors recommend that this bonding last from 60 minutes to 24 hours a day and can be performed by fathers as well. 

The more skin-to-skin contact, the better.  It should ideally start at birth, but is helpful anytime. Physiology and research provide overwhelming evidence that Kangaroo Mother Care is not only safe but superior to the use of technology such as incubators. Depriving babies of skin-to-skin makes alternative stress pathways in the brain, which can lead to ADD, colic, sleep disorders, among other things.

My lovely baby has been suffering for colic problem since she was born 3 months ago. Whenever her colic problem occurs, she cries and cries and cries… I, as a first time mother, cries whenever she cries painfully and for long period. The mental pain that I have gone through has almost killed me, to the extend that I always pray to the God to allow me taking over all the pain from my baby. It has really driven me crazy… My family and I have been trying all kind of stuffs to make her feel better, including getting doctor’s treatment frequently. Finally, she is getting better now (one time of colic pain in few days period) as compared to last time (few times of colic pain per day). Thanks to all kind of curing stuffs/ methods that we have been using. Among all, I think some of the effective methods are:- 

1. Take the chinese herbal medicine – “boh yin ton” at frequent basis.
2. Use the proper anti-colic bottle – Dr Brown’s Bottle. (A fantastic system that really helps in reducing the air intake during bottle feeding…)
3. Proper feeding and burping techniques.
4. Apply external chinese medicine – “yun yi oil” onto her stomach and abdomen. Rub few drops of oil with both my hands until my hands feels warm/ hot, and then place the hands onto the baby’s stomach and abdomen. Repeat few times.
5. Let her body lying down on my chest in a facing down position. This will make her stomach & abdomen feeling warm and hence feeling better.

As advised by the paediatrician, baby’s colic problem is quite common and usually will recover after 4 to 5 months old. However, I don’t think any parent or any mother could stand seeing the little one crying painfully and furthermore at such a frequent occurrence, e.g. at least few times of painful cry in one day.

Thus, we are trying all sorts of stuff just to make her feel better, and I wish to share the above here and hoping that it will help someone someday…
